AB de Villiers issues an apology
Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has apologised to Virat Kohli and his family. De Villiers apologized after claiming on his YouTube channel that Kohli and Anushka Sharma were expecting a child. De Villiers’ statements came at a time when fans were speculating about the cause for Kohli’s absence from the Indian squad during a crucial Test series against England.
In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, de Villiers acknowledged his error, saying, “Family comes first; it’s the priority, as I indicated on my YouTube account. I made a big error at the same time by spreading incorrect information that was completely wrong.” He highlighted the necessity of respecting Kohli’s privacy, saying, “No one knows what’s going on there; all I can do is wish him the best.”
Speculation about Kohli and Sharma’s second child emerged when Kohli withdrew from the first two Tests against England, claiming personal reasons. However, de Villiers’ subsequent statement dispels the speculations, claiming that the announcement of their second child is false.
