Lata Mangeshkar recalls the time somebody poisoned her

In what may come as a shock to many, somebody had once tried to poison Lata Mangeshkar way back in 1963. ETimes quotes a throwback interview given by the veteran singer where she says that the family doesn’t like to speak about the incident as it was one of the darkest times of their lives. Lata Mangeshkar had said that in 1963, she had gotten terribly sick and couldn’t even get up from her bed. In fact, the illness had gotten so bad that she couldn’t go about the house on her own.

Lata Mangeshkar went on to share that they had found out that she was being poisoned slowly. It took the singer around three months to recover and get back to work. Lata Mangeshkar also clarified that reports claiming she had lost her voice were false and that the doctors had never said that she wouldn’t be able to sing again.
