Bollywood star Bhumi Pednekar has led from the front to save as many lives as possible with the help of social media. Her digital initiative COVID WARRIOR has become a powerful tool to connect patients and their families with relevant and helpful resources across the country. Bhumi, with the power of social media, has united Indians to stand beside fellow citizens of the country and help aid people affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Bhumi says, “The internet can be used for greater good and social media is a powerful tool if used as a unifier of people. That’s what we have used for COVID WARRIOR and in turn hoped that it can save lives of those in critical need. I’m grateful for the people of the country for coming forward and helping each other. It has been a truly overwhelming journey for me, one that has bolstered my belief in people and humanity.”
Covid Warrior is an initiative of the people, for the people and by the people of India who have been working relentlessly to save as many lives as possible.The social media initiative that started with a team of 5 volunteers is now 200 + volunteer strong across India, who work 24×7 to save as many lives as possible by intercepting SOS messages on social media.
Bhumi has also been working non-stop to find ICU/ICU Ventilator/Oxygen/Oxygen Beds/Critical Medicines across the country. The initiative is extremely close to Bhumi’s heart as she started this after her mother tested positive for the coronavirus and was quite critical. She made it her mission to save lives thereafter. Bhumi has also been raising awareness on the pandemic, vaccination and post-recovery process constantly through her social media and her team of volunteers.
She says, “We have to stand beside one another in this moment of need. It is our duty as well as our responsibility to help as many people affected by this crisis. So many lives can be saved if we keep working like this. I’m thankful for everyone who has helped out and led from the front.”
